Fifth of EU residents plan to call more after intra-EU prices capped

(Telecompaper) A fifth of EU residents said they expect to contact other EU countries more after after the new caps on intra-EU call and SMS rates take effect 15 May, a survey by Eurobarometer found. In total, 42 percent of EU residents have contacted someone in another EU country in the past month, and 30 percent of these respondents said they plan to do so more often after 15 May.

Vodafone UK confirms 5G launch on 03 July

Telecompaper study shows Italy cheapest for mobile postpaid in Europe, Greece most expensive

(Telecompaper) Italy has become the cheapest country for postpaid mobile services in Western Europe, following the launch of Iliad there as the fourth operator, according to the latest research by Telecompaper. The market researcher's annual comparison of mobile prices across 16 European countries also shows that in most countries operators are including more and more data in their postpaid Sim-only plans, without a major increase in prices.

US Supreme Courts allows app antitrust case to move forward against Apple

(Telecompaper) The US Supreme Court has ruled that people can sue Apple for forcing them to buy apps exclusively on its app store, the Wall Street Journal reported. The App Antitrust suit says apps could be cheaper if software developers could sell them directly and not have to use Apple's app store, where people pay inflated prices.

Vodafone sells New Zealand unit to Infratil-Brookfield consortium

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Group has agreed to sell its Vodafone New Zealand unit to a consortium of investors, which includes New Zealand-based Infratil and Canada-based Brookfield Asset Management. The consortium has agreed to acquire Vodafone New Zealand for NZD 3.4 billion cash (approximately EUR 2.1 billion).

Vodafone meets FY guidance, cuts dividend to focus on debt reduction

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Group reported underlying EBITDA up 3.1 percent to EUR 14.14 billion in its fiscal year to March, in line with its guidance. The company said low single-digit growth should continue in the new year, supported by a continued focus on costs. The company reduced its dividend to 9 cents a share from 15.07 cents the previous year, saying it plans to focus more on debt reduction.
