Amazon fined EUR 4 mln in France for abusive Marketplace contract terms

(Telecompaper) The French consumer regulator DGCCRF has won a fine of EUR 4 million against Amazon for abusive contract terms for third-party sellers on the online marketplace. Amazon must also change seven of its contract clauses to improve the sellers' rights, within six months or face further fines of EUR 10,000 per day.

Facebook turns face recognition off by default

(Telecompaper) Facebook has announced changes to its facial recognition settings, one of the issues raised in its record fine from the US Federal Trade Commission for privacy violations. The default setting for most users going forward will be to have facial recognition turned off.

AT&T appoints McElfresh as Communications CEO, promotes Stankey to COO

(Telecompaper) AT&T announced the appointment of Jeff McElfresh as the new CEO of AT&T Communications, its largest division, grouping all its telecom activities. He will report to John Stankey, the CEO of WarnerMedia who has just been named to the new position of president and chief operating officer of AT&T.
