Swedish govt confirms SEK 150 mln for rural broadband expansion

(Telecompaper) Swedish Metro Network Association SSNf said the government has commissioned the Board of Agriculture to allocate SEK 150 million in broadband funding to sparsely populated parts of Sweden. This funding is intended to target places with fewer residents particularly, but in other respects, the same rules apply as before as far as granting permit and allocating money are concerned.

Greece raises EUR 201 mln in 1,800 MHz auction

(Telecompaper) Greek telecommunications authority EETT secured EUR 201.450 million through the allocation of frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band. Cosmote bought the largest share of spectrum for EUR 83.150 million, while Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas paid EUR 59.2 million and EUR 59.1 million respectively for their licences.

Sprint, T-Mobile call off merger talks

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has confirmed an end to merger talks between its subsidiary T-Mobile US and Sprint. The German operator said "an agreement about the general framework of such a merger could not be reached".
