Kroger is putting the grocery cart a little bit in front of its plans for revamping the College Station Shopping Center, the Athens-Clarke County Planning Commission learned Thursday night, as the group reviewed two separate zoning requests from the grocery chain. Arahn Hawkins, representing Kroger's real-estate division as planning commissioners got their first formal look at plans for tearing down and rebuilding the 19-acre shopping area at College Station and Barnett Shoals Road, said Kroger hasn't finalized a deal for the 89,000-square-foot space that housed discount retailer Kmart until that store was shuttered three years ago.
