000 ABPZ20 KNHC 161733 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 AM PDT Mon Oct 16 2017 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: Showers and thunderstorms associated with a low pressure area located about 900 miles west of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula have changed little in organization since this morning. Although the system is moving into an area of less favorable environmental conditions, only a small increase in organization could still result in the formation of a tropical depression this afternoon. Cooler waters and strong upper-level winds are expected to inhibit development after that time while the system moves generally northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent. Another low pressure area located about 1450 miles east-southeast of the Hawaiian Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
