It all began in 1993, when she and husband Andy launched Kate Spade New York with a collection of nylon bags and it didn't take long for the CFDA take note: Kate earned the Perry Ellis Award for Accessories in 1995 and Accessories Designer of the Year in 1997. Since then, her eponymous collection has turned into a lifestyle brand that includes apparel, jewelry, fragrances, and bedding, and the brand's bright colors and edgy tag lines continue to be worn by fashion trendsetters like Jamie Chung , Zooey Deschanel , Solange Knowles , and Kerry Washington .
