This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Ground Systems Operations Engineer 1813017 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Systems Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT. You would will be working within the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division supporting system engineering activities for Operational systems. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team interacting with operational programmes and future programmes and will support the SEP Division with the following activities Supporting the specification of Ground Segment components. Supporting the consolidation, evolution and maintenance of the Ground Segment reference architecture. This includes Requirements engineering, including requirements analysis and validation, requirements allocation, tracing and requirements change control Functional analysis and architectureinterface design applying system modelling engineering methods and techniques. System analyses, performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness. Tradeoff studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning for the implementation of changes requested by operations users and customers. Supporting the assessment of impacts to the Ground Segment of changes required for operational systems, resulting from evolution and maintenance activities. This includes Analysing engineering change requests on the operational ground segments Supporting the investigation of anomalies on the ground segment, including the endtoend view and understanding of the systems Coordinating with different teams in order to assess the impact of the requested changes Attending daily operationrelated meetings in order to remain uptodate with the progress of the activities Updating and maintaining related documentation. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline. At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design, maintenance and operations of ground segment systems. Knowledge of the systems making up a ground segment, their interrelations, interactions and understand the implications that making changes in one system have on others. Extensive experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling. Space and Ground System engineering processes, System and Software lifecycles and standards. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods, techniques and tools. Desirable Skills and Experience Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks e.g., MODAF, TOGAF, DODAF will be a valuable appreciated asset. Definition, management and traceability of requirements with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. You shall be able to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple parallel tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communications skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. You shall have good interpersonal skills and proactive attitude with strong ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment. We are looking for a Mechanisms Engineer E3 to join our Ajilon Technology Aerospace team, working onsite at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands. Ajilon is a longstanding business partner of the European Space Agency ESA, with more than 115 employees recruited from across Europe currently supporting ESAs activities. General tasks to be performed Mechanisms support to all ESA project directorates with respect to the implementation of space mechanism technologies in current and future missions, including configuration assessments and mission performance evaluation Establishment of Statement of Work and Preliminary Requirement Specifications for Mechanism Systems, Individual Mechanisms or Mechanism components dedicated to Technology and Research Development. Perform and support in the role of Mechanism engineer, System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the ESA long termfuture mission plans. Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technologies for future ESA missions. Support investigations of mechanisms being out of performance, including malfunctions and contingency scenarios. Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the Space Mechanisms ECSS Engineering Standards. Generation and setup of appropriate space mechanisms analysis and simulation models using analysis tools based on technical documentation of space mechanisms. Back up and archiving of analysis models for later retrieval. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required A Masters degree or equivalent in mechanical or aeronautical engineering. Relevant experience within the field of mechanism design, analysis, verification and testing. Excellent knowledge in space system engineering, specializing in mechanisms, knowledge of the Space Mechanism ECSS standard and its application to the design and verification of mechanisms, together with a good knowledge of space mechanism testing and verification methodologies and techniques and a good knowledge of related mechanisms numerical analysis tools such as Adams, VirtualLab Motion , SIMPACK, MatlabSimulink, Maxwell, Flux etc. Good knowledge specifically of ECSSEST3301CRev.1 Mechanisms. Good knowledge of ESA and its programmesprojects. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives, as well as project deadlines. Summary An opportunity for an experienced System Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK. Objective To provide support in the DTEC Directorate in the System team of Small Satellite or CubeSat Project in the area of System Avionics, System Software and System Communication across all phases of the project. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to Support all activities related to System Avionics, System Software and System Communication, from the early definition phase through to implementation phase and launchoperations phase. Maintain interfaces with the relevant Prime contractors or subsystem responsibles industryresearch institute for the assigned projects. Support system and subsystem reviews of the assigned projects and ad hoc support. Follow up on technical issues arising on the assigned projects and participate in risk reduction activities. Help defining operations and support the inorbit commissioning phase of the projects. Qualifications Experience Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent. The candidate should have expert knowledge of System Engineering and more specifically to avionics, software and communication subsystems through the complete lifecycle including mission designoperations, systems design AIV, subsystem technologiesproducts. Knowledge of experience in the practical application of tailored engineeringquality standards to Small Satellite, IOD missions and CubeSat projects would be an asset. Experience of system and mission design, including system design modelling tools and Concurrent Engineering applied to space mission assessment and design would be beneficial. Knowledge of System of Systems SoS architecting and related tools such as System Architect, Focal Point, etc. and frameworks e.g. MODAF, TOGAF would be an asset. Knowledge and practice in the application of ESA SE Standards e.g. ECSSE10 series and SW engineering would an asset. Essential Skills Good English language skills Excellent interpersonal skills. Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a diverse team environment.
