Fiat Chrysler recalled 1.4 million vehicles just days before being hit with a record $105 million fine by federal regulators, and the recall involves Overland Park-based Sprint Corp. Recall lapses prompted federal regulators to hit Fiat Chrysler with a civil penalty claims the automaker violated federal motor-vehicle safety law on many fronts, The Wall Street Journal reports . The action points to three areas of violation by the automaker: misleading and obstructing regulators; inadequate and lagging repairs; and failing to timely alert owners about recalls, WSJ reports.
