Infrastructure Administrator Category Information Technology City Leatherhead, Surrey, United Kingdom Position ID J06151335 Permanent Full Time Position Description CGI has signed a contract with European Space Agency ESA to provide Application Maintenance Service and Evolutions projects till Oct 2016. The project is set up with 15 European subcontractors to provide ongoing maintenance and evolutions for 40 Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS Earth Observations Applications. The applications range from data acquisition, data dissemination, imaging and archiving. CGI is a prime contractor, responsible for System Engineering, Testing and Release Management. The subcontractors are responsible for providing new developments, fixes and enhancements. The role has the following requirements Manage a Reference platform in a cloud environment Learn Earth Observation Applications Perform application testing The role has the capability for the candidate to grow into and assist with Subcontractor management Perform subsystem design Perform Subsystem acceptance Assistance is available on the project to cover aspects the candidate needs to develop. Must have a can do attitude and ability to learn quickly. Further details Manage a Reference platform in a cloud environment Requires the following skills Linux administration Understand networking on a Linux machine Understand routing on a Linux machine Understand the IP Tables on a Linux machine Manage firewalls Liaise with cloud supplier Interoute to manage change monitor usage, perform utility tasks such as back up, data transfer, tidy up, performance Experience of installing and debugging issues with applications. knowledge of Oracle enough to keep the platform going Configuration of the platform in conjunction with project configuration manager Interact with project security officer to apply project security policies The role will own the platform and everything that comes with it how its setup up, access, cloning, what is installed where, how to use it, how to get things in and out of it etc. Ownership will be key and the candidate will need to exercise some control over what happens with the environment expansion, installing new things a go to person. Learn Earth Observation Application testing Requires the following skills Prepare reference platforms for new applications Add new VMs, storage, firewall rules, routing etc and build them in to the maintenance environment Install applications Help integrate and test Interact with subcontractors Happy to get handson and interact with others. Essential Linux, platform management, cloud computing, testing, configuration, handson and able to learn new applications Desirable working knowledge of Oracle The project is based in Leatherhead, with possible travel to client site. The work will be carried out mainly at Leatherhead, with some flexibility of remote working. Occasional visits to ESRIN in Italy andor other countries may be required.
