This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior RF Engineer to join the team at Rocket Lab as the Lead RF Engineer and RF Team Manager and work on the most exciting engineering project currently being undertaken in New Zealand. As Lead RF Engineer you will work closely with both the Operations, Avionics, Software and Launch teams and you will be play an important role in the selection, design, integration and licencing of radio frequency communication systems both onvehicle and onground. You will lead a team of RF engineers with responsibilities across the company. You will be challenged daily and to succeed you will need to adapt quickly and thrive under pressure to achieve tight project deadlines. Our next launch date is fast approaching, and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running so previous experience with RF communication components is vital. There a few areas of responsibility which are Management of the RF Team Resource management and Recruitment Scheduling of resources with other teams and to common timelines Business case creation and justification Cost tracking and cost management Define and maintain RF system roadmap Rocket Lab Ground Station Network Maintenance and Development of the Ground Station Network Signal acquisition of flight vehicles Preflight checkout of the network Managing licencing for ground communications infrastructure Vehicle Review ICDs between avionics network and communications network on ground Review teamselected RF system hardware per requirements from Software, GNC and vehicle teams Review test plans for functional and environmental testing of such systems Electromagnetic compatibility testing Supervise testing and support other teams Analyze results and suggest solutions in case of issues Analyze test data and inflight data Operations Manage RF and coordinate RF resources during launch campaigns Manage operations of Ground Stations both domestic and international Manage contractors both domestic and international Execute launch procedures Join operations team on siteat Mission control center and support launch campaigns Define RFcommunications interfaces with payloads Discussions with regulators both domestic, foreign and international Essential skills required for the position of Lead RF Engineer Bachelors or higher in Engineering or Physics, with major in Communications systemsDigital CommunicationsElectromagnetics or equivalent qualification 5 years experience in design, test and integration of RF front end systems or Vehicle RF systems satellite, aviation or aerospace systems Experience as a Line Manager or Team Leader in an engineering role Experience with test equipment network, spectrum and signal analysers Experience with digital modulations and radio propagation Experience with communications link budgets The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships Hands on experience designing, assembling and testing frontend RF systems Desirable Python MATLAB Experience with ground stations design and deployment Experience with aerospace vehicle RF system design A good theoretical andor practical knowledge of electronic systems design Practical Skills InstallationMaintenance of Equipment etc About Rocket Lab Rocket Labs mission is to revolutionize the way we access space.
