According to "Realization of Ground State Artificial Skyrmion Lattices at Room Temperature" published by NIST and University of California (UC) scientists in Nature Communications, skyrmions (quantum ring-shaped magnetic effects) might prove to be viable for new type of computer memory. Researchers involved found straightforward method to create magnetic skyrmions under ambient room conditions. Next step is exploring how skyrmions might be used in technology.
