Reaction to the city of Denton's fracking ban has been swift at the Legislature, with numerous bills proposed to prevent other bans or pre-empt local control on myriad issues. As the argument goes, by flexing regulatory muscle to protect residents from the environmental issues associated with fracking, cities are undercutting state authority, as well as our economy and liberty.
