ReFED: Americans Will Toss $500 Million in Uneaten Food on Thanksgiving

2025-11-06 18:00:00| Waste Age

When we think of Thanksgiving, we see images of family, tradition, and food. Probably way too much food. As families gather around the dinner tables year after year, theres a less festive consequence following the holiday, and its taking up a lot of space in trash cans. According to new analysis from ReFED, Americans are expected to throw away nearly 320 million pounds of food on Thanksgiving Day alone. That adds up to $500 million of uneaten food that is simply being wasted.
