Job Description The SCISYS autonomy and robotics group have been at the forefront of cutting edge innovation for space applications including robotic Mars Explorations. As we grow this aspect of our space business and apply this technology in new, terrestrial applications we require highcalibre candidates to delivery our strategy. We currently seek motivated individuals with expertise in the area of mobile robot trajectory planning and machine vision to work in the SCISYS Space Division at our Bristol office. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to help shape the future of autonomous mobile systems for space and apply this knowledge to professional, terrestrial robot applications. This post would suit a candidate with a Ph.D and applied robotics experience in the area of mobile robot navigation andor computer vision. Although of interest experience in the space sector is not essential. Tasks will include novel system concept design, integration and test for both space an nonspace applications. In addition to concept development and engineering tasks, candidates will be expected to present and communicate any work undertaken in both commerical and academic environments. Desired Skills and Experience As an engineer with the group you will be responsible for helping to develop and lead our mobility efforts for a range of target platforms. Successful candidates should possess some or all of the following skills and expertise Trajectory planning for mobile platforms Machine vision based localisation and 3D mapping using various means such as visual odomentry, SLAM Nonvision based localisation and mapping Applied field experience with robotic systems Applied mechanical expertise for mobile systems Trajectory planning for robotic arms Applied UAV sub 10kg flight experience Industrial experience in space or nonspace domains 3D visualisation In addition to the list above, the candidate must have the following Ph.D in Robotics, AI, Mechatronics, Computer Science or Engineering Excellent allround programming skills in Java, C, C, Realtime systems, Linux various and Windows, Eclipse frameworks Fluency in English, both spoken and written Eligibility to work and live in the UK Ability to work autonomously and technically interact with customer representatives Ability to integrate easily into the existing team, both technically and socially Ability to interpret and write Technical Documentation Ability to travel SCISYS offers a comprehensive range of benefits including, pension, life assurance and private healthcare.
