Position Reference 1176 We are looking for a Sentinel Satellites Operations Engineer to work in Darmstadt, Germany. The key individual support the Copernicus Operations Preparation Manager within the Copernicus Mission Development CMD division of the Programme preparation and Development PRD department, working on various phases of new missions. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Preparing for and executing all relevant Copernicus Sentinel routine operations in a SCOS2000 environment, as well as preparing for the recurrent satellite handover activities. Performing the maintenance, validation and documentation of the space segment assets update. Interfacing with all other flight operations teams such as the MCS, mission planning, FDF, but also with external operational entities or services. Operating all satellite and FOSPDGSPDAB component aspects related to operations engineering for the platform, payload and instrument, including data handling, instrument parameter, OBSW maintenance, as well as FDIR and OPS security aspects. Planning and scheduling the satellite operations in coordination with the other teams. Continuously monitoring Spacecraft performance and status. Participating in anomaly investigation and resolution. Reporting and analyzing the satellite system performance. Proficiency training of the Engineers using the space and ground segment simulators. Ensuring the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory A bachelors degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Experience in at least two of the following areas Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3axis stabilized spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine phases. SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool. Satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes. The operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. The ability to work in an orderly and disciplined manner, whilst remaining calm under pressure. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills. Fluent in English, written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience with the specification of space system and operational concepts, facility requirements. Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customization and usage. Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Experience with data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. Experience with file parsing languages such as PERL and AWK. Experience with the use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. The ability to recognize opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions. How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level?
