Radial Telescopic Transfer Arm (RTTA) provides sample reach of 760 mm beyond chamber connection flange. When fully retracted, arm will fit in chamber with ID of 630 mm and can hold up to 138 mm dia samples. Rotary feedthrough MagiDrives are used to achieve necessary actuation. While MD64LB has break-away torque of ~40 nm and provides stiff coupling, MD35 actuates mechanisms to drive arm in and out. True UHV rotation allows reproducibility of ≤0.5 mm fully extended to end stop.
