Help us to train our team of operators, technicians and engineers at the European Space Operations Centre, Darmstadt. Thorn Satellite Data Services Thorn SDS is recruiting for a Training Officer to join our team at ESAESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. We operate ESOCs Network Operations Centre controlling satellites and bespoke IT networks on a 365x24x7 basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, planning, and delivering critical training programmes to educate and to refresh the skills and knowledge of our team. We are looking for an experienced technical trainer with firsthand knowledge and experience of running technical training programmes, from requirement identification and course specification, through planning and scheduling, to course delivery. In order to be successful, you will need an excellent knowledge of systems engineering, preferably gained in a ground station andor IT network operations environment. You should have an aptitude to undertake technical training yourself producing and delivering training courses from that learning. You will need excellent skills in creating presentations, documentation, and learning material for groups and for onetoone coaching. You should have the highest levels of customer focus and professionalism. All applicants must be able to work in Europe without restictions. This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to learn and be involved with many different technologies and satellite missions. You will work alongside staff from the various missions capturing how their specific requirements can be transposed into operational procedures for our team. Applicants must Hold a university engineering degree in a related discipline e.g. Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer, or Information Technology Have some experience in developing and providing structured training Demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of systems engineering in either satellite ground stations, IT, or telecommunications Have excellent communication skills in English Be familiar with and comfortable using MS Powerpoint, Project, Word Be comfortable in delivering technical training to both individuals and groups Be well organised and keep good records Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines Be a team player but also capable or working independently without supervision.
