DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lorenzo was located near latitude 12.0 North, longitude 28.0 West. Lorenzo is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h). This general motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected for the next couple of days, followed by a turn the northwest on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Lorenzo is forecast to become a hurricane later today and could become a major hurricane on Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).
