U.S. Apparel Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends (Monthly Report)

2019-08-08 20:14:04| EmergingTextiles.com

Whatever the threats of punitive tariffs on US apparel imports from China, the Chinese shipments have continued to rise in June, as reflected by the latest trade data released by the US Department of Commerce. US buyers seem trapped in China, with no similar capacities available outside and the ability of Chinese suppliers to lower their prices. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2019 period including cotton vs. man-made fiber apparel, and China vs. Vietnam and the Rest of the World (RoW). Import data are available per origin in the year-to-date, in volume, value, and unit value terms.
