Will Sequestration Bring Pork Processing to a Screeching Halt?
2013-02-15 16:20:00| National Hog Farmer
What a week in Washington. As a vast divide separates the congressional Republicans and Democrats when it comes to budget issues, The Hill is predicting a high likelihood that the automatic spending cuts known as the sequester will be implemented. Food Safety News reported this week that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could conduct 2,100 fewer inspections at domestic and foreign food facilities and the U.S Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service might have to furlough all employees for approximately two weeks to meet the extensive budget cuts. From now on, it has pledged to work to preserve "high conservation value" and "high-carbon stock" forests. The move marks a major...

2013-01-30 07:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
BusinessGreen: Renewable energy developers are hoping the government will prevent a growing number of county councils from imposing wind farm buffer zones, which could severely restrict developments across the country. Buffer zones are designed to prevent turbines from being installed too close to people's homes, but developers fear that stringent restrictions could effectively block the development of wind farms in potentially suitable locations. At least eight local authorities in England either already...
