IVV and Operational Support Engineer C Copernicus Sentinel1

Position Reference 765 We are currently looking for an IVV Integration, Verification and Validation and Operational Support Engineer to work in the RHEA Office in the city of Frascati, Italy. The IVV and Operational Support Engineer will support the implementation and routine operations of the processing chain in charge of the systematic generation of the data acquired by the Copernicus Sentinel1 Earth Observation mission. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support the preparation and execution of the testing, integration and acceptance of the single processing modules part of the Sentinel1 production chain. Support the preparation and execution of the endtoend testing of the Sentinel1 production chain with respect to all its external interfaces and services mission planning, auxiliary data gathering, precise orbit determination, mission performance, etc. Support the deployment of the integrated processing chain on public cloud infrastructures. Upon delivery, manage the new releases of the software components part of the processing chain. Verify the documentation and assess the adequacy of the test specifications of the software components and their subsequent updates. Provide support to the monitoring of the routine operations of the Sentinel1 processing chain, in particular in relation to the OnLine Quality Control OLQC carried out systematically on all generated data products. Carry out investigations in case of operational problems and open anomalies, interacting with other team member up to problem resolution. Provide 247 oncall support in coordination with other team members. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in Engineering or a technical field that provides similar competences. At least 2 years of IVV experience on complex and critical systems under Linux Knowledge of CICD methodologies Knowledge of software development lifecycles and change control processes Experience in data processing systems and relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS At least basic knowledge of the Sentinel1 data products. Knowledge of the Level2 is particularly desirable. Capacity of shell programming and bash scripting. The knowledge of Python language is desirable. Teamwork capabilities. Overview Under this work package, the Contractor will work within the Copernicus Sentinel1 Project team and will report to the head of Spacecraft AIT Section of the Copernicus Sentinel1 Project Division, Earth Observation Projects Department, Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes for the project specific responsibilities and duties. The post holder will be responsible for the manufacturing, test and characterisation of the OCP instrument and subsystems within the Sentinel1 Project. In particular the tasks include Monitoring the industrial activities related to the Sentinel1 OCP procurement Supervising the flowdown of the System requirements onto the OCP subsystem, equipment and component level Monitoring the manufacturing, integration, tests and delivery of the components, equipment and subsystems that will constitute the OCP, through the different development models, ensuring adequate planning and progress of work Ensuring that the required MGSE and EGSE are adequately defined, developed and verified according to the required specification and the required programme of work, in particular the OCP to PDHT interfaces Ensuring that the related OCP requirements are being appropriately fulfilled at all levels of industrial activity for all onboard subsystems and equipment Supporting the definition of the OCP Assembly, Integration, and Verification approach. Furthermore, the post holder will support the procurement of the AIS instrument, in cooperation with the Payload Team, taking responsibility of the AIS Receiver and reporting to the Sentinel1 Payload Manager, specifically on Monitoring the AIS Receiver industrial activities and supervising the flowdown of the AIS instrument definition into requirements onto the AIS receiver and component level Monitoring the manufacturing, integration, tests and delivery of the AIS Receiver and ensuring that the required MGSE and EGSE are adequately specified to the required programme of work Ensuring that the AIS Receiver requirements, and related AIS instrument, are being appropriately verified and fulfilled at all levels of industrial activity for all onboard subsystems and equipment. Additionally, the post holder will Review the project documentation produced throughout the project lifetime Participate in project meetings and reviews. The Contractor will draw on the support of specialised engineers and will liaise closely with other members of the project team and in particular provide technical advice and support to ensure that all deliverables have been produced and verified in accordance with the relevant requirements. Specific qualification requirements The Candidate shall have a university Masters degree in Space Systems or Aerospace Engineering. Experience in monitoring and coordinating industrial procurement activities. Experience in CFI deliveries and acceptance. Experience in the development and testing of space hardware. Practical experience in the field of CFI Integration and Test. Good knowledge of industrial practices. Good interpersonal Skills. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Proficient in the English Language Spoken and Written.
