RD Professional Payload System Engineer Function You will be a member of a dynamic multidisciplinary team responsible for the conceptual design and development of innovative earth observation payloads for UAVs andor small satellites, with a focus on light weight systems and challenging environmental constraints. Applications are in the domain of agriculture, food security, environmental monitoring, and disaster monitoring. The payload system engineer works closely together with both the VITO RD team, the industry implementation teams and client. You have the following responsibilities Contribute to the conceptual design of multihyperspectral optical instruments based on stateoftheart technologies. Definition and monitoring of mission, system and operational requirements. Working closely together with industry to monitor the development of the instrument, ensuring the correct performance in accordance to the requirements. Coordinating the payloadlevel system reviews, as well as the subsystem reviews. Review, approve and monitor system and subsystem level AIT plans and campaigns. Contribution to proposal writing and project reporting to national and international governmental and industrial clients. Profile Required A Master degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Physics, and a proven record in airborne andor space instrument system engineering. Good system level knowledge of remote sensing instrument technologies optical systems and filters, image sensors, camera systems, and calibrationvalidation methods. Takes ownership of the assigned responsibilities, steers the project, team workers, and partners in the right direction. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Openminded, creative and resilient to changing circumstances. Swift action to propose and negotiate solutions in case of issues. A very good knowledge of spoken and written English is required. Flexible for frequent short travel to supplier and test facility locations. Desired Knowledge of optical payload design SW Zemax, CodeV, ... and programming languages CC, Java, Matlab, IDL, Labview, Knowledge of Remote Sensing image processing and applications. Notions of Dutch and French.

We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Payload System Engineer mf ENGSERVELIPSXPL201501 Tasks and Responsibilities ESAs Utilization Infrastructure and PayloadsExperiment Development Division HSOPI, within the Human Spaceflight and Operations Development Department, have the responsibility for the full development activities for all ISS research payloads, as well as the evolution of existing ISS payloads and supports the subsequent operational phase of those ISS payloads. The current position is to join our systems engineering team as a member of the ELIPS System Engineering Service to ESA, to support the Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space ACES and Atmosphere Space Interactions Monitor ASIM payloads, two research payloads under development for the external platform of the Columbus lab. Our company is responsible for supporting ESA in System Engineering for these payloads. The work will be performed at the European Space Research Technology Centre ESTEC, The Netherlands. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Providing system engineering support to ESAs technical officers for the development activities and testing of the subject payloads. Elaborating and proposing corrective actions and solutions for identified technical problems in payload development projects. Review and clarify launch vehicle interface requirements and definition. Experience with ITAR rules and agreement would be an advantage. Experience in the management of external hardware software interfaces for payloads definition, control, verification. Knowledge of the ISS environment for scientific payloads. Knowledge of ISS boundary conditions and product assurance and safety procedures. Experience in the science payload space flight domain and at the least one of the following field structural electrical electronic thermal engineering. Knowledge of the requirements definition and verification process for scientific payloads. Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Payload Ref SES0603 Region Europe Location Isle of Man Douglas Company SES Category Space Operations Position Staff Published 20150731 Context The Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Payload, will be responsible for the oversight of the companys contracts with the satellite payload manufacturers. Working closely together with the SES Spacecraft Field Offices, Space Operations and Ground Infrastructures groups, the position involves supervising the development of multiple satellite telecommunication payloads and of local ground station antennas. The candidate will need to ensure SES SLs SES Satellite Leasing best interests are protected, reviewing as appropriate milestones and timelines to ensure that contractual and programmatic targets are met. Attendance at key milestone meetings events throughout the development and manufacturing of the satellite payloads will also be required design reviews, test readiness reviews, management meetings, testing, etc.. The role will require a high level of interface with other SES departments who support these various activities. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Together with the SES Field Offices, perform the oversight of SES SL payloads development and, as appropriate, attend relevant meetings and reviews with both SES internal and external stake holders spacecraft payload manufacturers, ground segment service providers, Field Offices safeguarding SES SL interests in the case of schedule or programmatic issues arising. Early detection and identification of critical problem areas throughout the design and construction phases of the satellite projects.
