DUTIES The incumbent will report to the Head of the Payload Technologies and Products Section and will be responsible for managing satellite payload technology and product development activities, including initiation, in collaboration with the Procurement Department and other relevant ESA departments, of activities related to payload technology and product development for telecommunications satellites establishment and control of relevant ESA requirements, specifications and general documentation negotiation, monitoring and control of contracts and activities related to payload technology and product development providing inputs to status reports on ARTES activities identification and definition of payload product and technology needs for future satellite communication services cooperation with specialists in other ESA departments. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering and experience in telecommunications payload andor payload equipment design, manufacturing and testing. In particular, substantial experience is required in the following fields telecommunications satellite payload design, analysis, implementation and testing management of development contracts for satellite payload equipment. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in the design, development andor exploitation of active RF units, such as low noise amplifiers, channel amplifiers and linearisers, power amplifiers, frequency converters and digital signal processors. A sound knowledge of numerous types of active payload equipment and their functions at payload level would be an asset. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellent organisational skills attention to detail a problemsolving attitude an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships managerial capabilities. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language.
