Spacecraft Operations Engineer Sentinel1 SAR Payload Operations mf The Mission Copernicus Sentinel1 is a space mission to provide European SAR imaging Earth observation services. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE to be part of the Flight Control Teams supporting the Sentinel1 mission operations, to be located at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. The primary areas of responsibility for this position are the CBand SAR instrument and the Optical Communications Payload OCP. The candidate may also be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general spacecraft operations engineering services. Other areas of responsibility specific to Sentinel1 are Validation, test and operation of the Sentinel1 Mission Planning System The definition of the Mission Planning interface with PDGS Inorbit commissioning Responsible for the SAR and OCP subsystems NDIU PSS validation, test and operation LEOP support Responsible for Payloads, Power, Thermal and Deployables. The primary responsibility will be to support Sentinel1 operations, but with the possibility of supporting other missions within the Earth Observation Missions Division of ESOC. This is a full time position, located at ESOC premises in Darmstadt, Germany, starting as soon as possible. Your Qualifications This position requires a person with University or similar degree in engineering, physics or related subject with a good professional experience of several years in spacecraft andor operational applications. The candidate must have the ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. Specific requirements for the position are listed below Essential Good spacecraft knowledge on a subsystem level Experience in working in an operational environment Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Fluent written and spoken English Well organised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with operational training Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Familiarity with operational payloads. Desirable Earth Observation Satellite experience Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites Mission Planning expertise Power Thermal expertise. The position requires a great deal of independence and selfmotivation. The candidate should be able to work with little supervision, but also be able to contribute to the team effort. The Challenge We are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE to be part of the flight operations team based at ESOC in Darmstadt.
