Montavilla North and South Sewer Repair Projects Update: Design is underway

Environmental Services is designing two projects to repair about 23,000 feet, more than four miles, of public sewers in the Montavilla neighborhood and eastern edges of North Tabor, Mount Tabor and South Tabor neighborhoods. Existing sewers are about 80 to 100 years old and in deteriorating condition. These projects will protect the public and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.

The Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project includes installing 23 green street planters, planting 100 street trees, and repairing or replacing over 10,000 feet of public sewer pipe. These improvements will extend the service life of our sewer system and protect public health, property and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses. This project is part of the Tabor to the River Program.

In spring 2015, Environmental Services began designing a project in your neighborhood to repair or replace 4,500 feet of 100-year-old public sewer pipe that is deteriorating due to age, and add 18 green street planters to remove 2.4 million gallons of stormwater from sewer pipes. These improvements will protect public health, property and the environment and reduce the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses.
