Lake in the Hills' Route 31 corridor is primed for retail development and has the potential for a variety of uses, including auto/truck dealerships, general merchandise retailers, supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, furniture stores, and drugstores, according to a new study. The village commissioned a retail market feasibility study, conducted by Melaniphy and Associates, which identifies three potential sites for development along the southwest corner of Route 31 and Rakow Road.

Lake in the Hills Wants to Attract Car Dealerships to the Village

A recent market feasibility study has Lake in the Hills's new economic development coordinator trying to attract automotive dealerships to the village, according to a Northwest Herald report . George Hahne, who was hired as the village's economic development coordinator just a few weeks ago, told the Northwest Herald that the feasibility study showed that of the $252 million of sales in the village, the majority of retail sales come from the automotive and filling station sectors.
