El Nino may stir grain markets more than Black Sea drought
2015-11-11 23:36:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Reuters: El Nino could have a bigger impact on grain and oilseed markets than drought in Russia and Ukraine, which may be alleviated before the crucial spring growth period, analysts said on Wednesday. "You can't have a drought problem overnight," David Hightower, president of research firm The Hightower Report, said of conditions in Russia and Ukraine. Speaking at the Global Grain conference in Geneva, he said El Nino, however, could have far-reaching effects if it lowers palm oil output in top producers...

"It pains me to do so. My cattle are my family's inheritance," he said. The wealth of small-scale farmers and the dreams of emerging black...

2015-11-08 01:04:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Guardian: Dean Gamburd has been a Bel Air resident all his life. Normally, he has nothing but good things to say about his neighbourhood, one of the most affluent in Los Angeles, where the streets are lined with opulent houses and well-tended flowerbeds. Jennifer Aniston, Nicolas Cage and Kim Kardashian have homes here. Its a nice place to live. But today Gamburd, a former firearms consultant in his 60s, is angry. Very angry. Its criminal, he says, sitting at a table outside Starbucks. Theres no other...
