Shares in kitchen company Aga Rangemaster were up by more than 20% after confirmation that it would be taken over by US-based Middleby At 12:02 BST shares were up 20.07% to 182.50p on the news Middleby had offered to buy the range oven maker. Shareholders would receive 185p per share in Aga Rangemaster, a 77% premium over the company's June share price.

A countrywide shortage of liquid petroleum gas has become so bad that some distributors from Gauteng have been forced to order gas from the Western Cape, which already has dwindling supplies. But erratic loadshedding and cold weather has seen more consumers heading to stores and petrol stations to stock up on it and this increase in demand has exacerbated already low supplies.
