Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd.'s lawyers asked a Quebec judge not to approve a proposed $430-million settlement fund for victims of the Lac-Megantic train derailment because they say its terms are unfair to the company. Lawyer Alain Riendeau told Quebec Superior Court Justice Gaetan Dumas on Wednesday the terms severely limit CP's ability to defend itself in court.

Southwest Airlines asks court to kick Delta Air Lines out of Love Field gates

As reported in our City Hall blog by Robert Wilonsky , Southwest Airlines is asking the federal district court in Dallas to declare that Delta Air Lines will be trespassing in Southwest's Dallas Love Field gates as of July 7. "Southwest has implemented plans to fully utilize its 18 gates after the Delta license expires. Indeed, Southwest will operate 180 flights a day, or an industry-leading gate utilization of ten flights a day per gate, and has already sold in excess of 25,000 tickets to passengers who will fly on five new flights that will be run out of the gates that Delta is currently utilizing.

Dallas asks U.S. court to solve gate fight at Love Field

The city of Dallas asked a federal court Wednesday to tell it what to do in the battle over whether Delta Air Lines can continue to fly out of a Southwest Airlines gate at Dallas Love Field. In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Dallas, the city also seeks guidance on the rights of other airlines that want to use Love's increasingly in-demand gates.
