A key senator has asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to explain how fake firms can file false notices on the agency's electronic filing system that move share prices. Sen. Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent the SEC a letter asking how fake firms can file false notices on its Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval system, that's more commonly known as EDGAR.

DOT asks to join lakefront lawsuit to protect right to sell Clybourn site to Johnson Controls

The state of Wisconsin wants to join the lawsuit against Preserve Our Parks to protect the right to sell land on East Clybourn Street for a future development, potentially to Johnson Controls Inc. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will move two highway ramps on the Lake Interchange to open 2.5 acres possibly for a significant development on downtown Milwaukee's lakefront. The site is south of East Clybourn Street at Lincoln Memorial Drive.
