Telecom Italia handed EUR 21.5 mln antitrust fine

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia and six other companies have been fined a total of EUR 28 million by anti-trust regulator AGCM for anticompetitive conduct in the procedure for assigning network maintenance services. Telecom Italia and its external suppliers Alpitel, Ceit Impianti, Sielte, Sirti, Site and Valtellina were accused of collusion in relation to restoration of service operations resulting from a report by an end user, namely the operators Fastweb and Wind, between 05 July 2012 and 01 February 2013. Telecom Italia, which was handed a EUR 21.5 million fine, issued a statement saying it had acted lawfully and would be appealing to the Regional Administrative Court of Lazio, the main Italian administrative court of first instance, to demonstrate the non-existence of the alleged anticompetitive conduct.
Dutch virtual mobile market drops to 7.5 mln Sims

(Telecompaper) The number of mobile customers with virtual brands in the Netherlands fell by 15 percent in the six months to September 2015, after KPN's brand Hi exited the market. The remaining 7.5 million customers at virtual operators still accounted for around 37 percent of the total Dutch mobile market, according to Telecompaper's latest Dutch Mobile Virtual Operators Market report. Of the total, around 3.3 million were customers at operator-owned virtual brands, such as hollandsnieuwe or Ben, while the independent MVNOs counted 4.2 million Sims, or about 20 percent of the total Dutch mobile market.

Brazil receives BRL 760 mln in bids at frequency auction

(Telecompaper) Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) announced that BRL 762.7 million was earned during the first bidding session for lots A and B of the leftovers in the 1,800 MHz, 1,900 MHz and 2,500 MHz frequency bands. In one of the lots, the premium over the minimum price set by the regulator reached 1,272.53 percent.

BlackBerry posts USD 89 mln loss after restructuring costs

(Telecompaper) BlackBerry piosted a USD 89 million net loss (USD 0.17 EPS) in its fiscal third quarter to 28 November. The loss reflects USD 38 million in restructuring and acquisition costs, USD 18 million of amortisation of acquired intangibles, USD 14 million of stock compensation and USD 5 million in debentures fair value adjustment. On a non-GAAP basis, BlackBerry made a USD 15 million net loss (USD 0.03). Some 70 percent of the company's USD 548 million third quarter revenue was recurring. BlackBerry's Adjusted EBITDA came in a USD 114 million and free cash flow at USD 15 million.
Telenor surpasses 200 mln mobile subscribers

(Telecompaper) Telenor Group said it surpassed the 200 million mobile subscribers mark. This represents a significant milestone in Telenor Group's history across Asia, Europe and the Nordics, the Norway-based company said. At the end of 2015, the group has 200.6 million mobile subscribers, excluding figures from Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar, up from 185.9 million at the end of 2014. Telenor Group is present in 13 markets across Asia and Europe.
