Oct 29 MetalAorgica Gerdau SA, the investment holding company that controls Brazilian steelmaking group Gerdau SA, unveiled on Thursday a plan to sell 500 million shares in a private transaction. The company will offer 170 million common and 330 million preferred shares in a process known as restricted-effort offering, Gerdau said in a securities filing.

PayPal sales up 15% to USD 2.26 bln, adds 4 mln users

(Telecompaper) Digital payment processor PayPal reported third quarter revenues up 15 percent year on year to USD 2.26 billion, or USD 0.31 per share, just below its anticipated earnings target of USD 2.27 billion, or USD 0.29 per share. In what was the company's first earnings report since splitting from eBay in July, PayPal said the strength of the USD dollar hurt its transaction volumes in Europe and China, with revenues rising 19 percent on an FX neutral basis. However, the company's adjusted profits rose 31 percent to USD 377 million and it increased its total payment volume by 27 percent to USD 68.74 billion, including USD 2.1 billion processed through its P2P app Venmo, which grew 200 percent year on year. Transactions from mobile devices were up 38 percent from the previous quarter alone to a total of 345 million. Customer numbers increased from 169 million in Q3 to 173 million on 30 September and the company continued to add new partners, announcing deals with Macy's, Shell in the UK and Latin America's largest mobile provider America Movil.
Nippon Steel sees Oct-Mar crude steel output of 21.70 mln tonnes

Oct 29 Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal , the world's second-biggest steelmaker, said on Thursday it plans to produce 21.70 million tonnes of crude steel on a parent basis in the October-March half-year, against 22.08 million tonnes a year earlier. Slumping steel prices in Asia, hit by massive exports from China, and soft demand at home due to slack consumption of cars and houses have forced major steelmakers like Nippon Steel and JFE Steel, a unit of JFE Holdings, to trim output this year.
T-Mobile US adds 2.3 mln new customers in Q3

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US has again raised its target for subscriber growth this year, after adding a net 2.3 million new customers in Q3. The mobile operator now expects to add 3.8-4.2 million postpaid customers under the T-Mobile brand this year, compared to an estimate in July of 3.9 million. In the third quarter, the company gained 1.1 million branded postpaid customers and 595,000 prepaid customers. T-Mobile's service revenues were up 11 percent year-on-year to USD 6.3 billion, and adjusted EBITDA jumped 42 percent to USD 1.9 billion. The net result improved to a profit of USD 138 million from a loss of USD 94 million ago, and the operator recorded positive free cash flow of USD 411 million. T-Mobile maintained its guidance for full-year adjusted EBITDA of USD 6.8-7.2 billion.
Bridgestone to buy U.S. auto parts retailer Pep Boys for $835 mln

Oct 26 Japanese tire maker Bridgestone Corp said it would buy U.S. auto parts retailer Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack for $835 million in cash. The $15-per-share deal represents a premium of 23.5 percent to Pep Boys' Friday close of $12.15.
