A vacancy for an RF Test Systems Engineer for the Telecom Repeater Alignment Team has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Portsmouth. The role sits within the Payload Test work stream. The RF Test System Engineer is typically responsible for the preparation and the operational support of the Alignment Test System ATS used for telecom payload tests in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Tasks accountabilities Responsibilities include Deployment, validation and documentation of Payload RF Test solutions This role shall include all efforts required to deliver the payload test solution, including software and hardware aspects where applicable, or coordination of these disciplines where appropriate. Act as responsible engineer for a given project for a specific activity test solution to accomplish the successful deployment of payload test. As part of the alignment team, support for the preparation and during the alignment and section test campaign. First line Payload RF Test System maintenance and repair In the context of the delivery of an endtoend automated payload test system, the ATS engineer is required to take part in the automation of the test, more specifically part of his task includes the management of the Payload Test Parameters and the population of dedicated data repository and AIT test matrices To become proficient in the population and manipulation of TCS matrices in support of projects and cascade knowledge to other payload test Engineers. To police the engineering, cabling and RF results standards within the Payload Test System preparation area and when set up within the Payload test bay adherence to 5S principles. Focal point for all deployment activities post design customization and through to operational support possibly including out of hours oncall support Liaise with RF Lead owner of the AIT Test preparation schedule to achieve successful project milestones reviews with associated document inputs. Support the RF Lead for the weekly and monthly reporting to the project team and to the AIT department management team Work handinhand with the Payload AIT Quality organization to ensure adherence to standard processes Attendance at relevant project GoMeetings and other reviews held during the operational phase In collaboration with the AIT logistics team, monitor sparing policy and provision for the RF Test System supported To provide responsesadvice with respect to test hardware related occurrence reports and nonconformance raised. Support the engineer in charge of the project customization phase for instance for the definition of off board test cables, interfaces, couplers, Waveguides calibration kits etc. The RF Engineer will support the investigation of nonconformances, contributing to problem solving, implementation of investigations and corrective actions as detailed by the NRB. The ATS Engineer will be focused on driving nonquality and waste out of the Payload AIT processes related to Test System especially focusing on management of nonquality occurrence reporting in the clean room root cause analysis and second closure Take an active role in the Payload AIT Test Continuous Improvement through Lessons Learnt and Second Closure Qualifications andor Skills An Engineering degree with a specialisation in RF Electronics Aerospace RF instrumentation National Instrument LabVIEW Trained Preferably LabVIEW CLAD or above. Previous Experience Essential RF engineering and measurement techniques. Knowledge of RF Test Systems and RF instruments either by degree or hands on experience Test automation LabVIEW development environment, Training Core 1 2 Teamwork with good communication skills. Working within an environment with changing requirements but controlled strictly through an established Quality system. Desirable Telecom Payload Result processing Leadership attributes Test automation LabVIEW Training Core 3 Analysis skills and methodical approach to problem resolution and investigations Experience with ATE philosophies within the RF and digital fields RF Knowledge ranging from DC to Ka Band NI LabVIEW, Advanced architectures, State machines, instrument control using VISA, XML manipulation, OpenG interprocess communications. Familiar with MS Excel Basic understanding of databases Software Configuration management Ability to interpret test requirements and put in place configuration and test automation and associated documentation Understanding of the functionality of communication satellites and practical knowledge of complex test campaigns.
