You will perform mechanical integration harness wiring and performance testing of satellite payloads. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Perform payload equipment component receiving inspection, preparation kits, assembly installation for test andor flight configuration. Waveguide and Units Assembly on various thermal fillers, encompassing skilled fitting operations Document and complete work according to company procedures SignoffComplete daily integration log and Work Instruction Connectivity Log, etc. Perform tie base installation using various 2 part adhesives Prepare, use, apply, handle and dispose of chemical and hazardous substances such as thermal filler, silver epoxy, Araldite, Electrodag and Solithane Perform Mechanical Ground Support Equipment handling and lifting operations Prepare, clean, route, secure and mating torque flight and test RF coax cables DC harnesses installation and removal of DC Cannon connectors Know and perform harnesssecuring methods such as fibreglass taping, tie wraps, lacing chord, tie bases. Experience of torque methods order and value Thread and fillet locking methods Solithane, Scotchweld, DP490 Calibrate and properly use torque tools crimp tools mechanical and harness and required hardware Understand technical documents Drawings, procedures, technical notes, etc Keep Integration areas tools, toolboxes, workstations, etc clean and tidy 5S Use the machine shop for minor fabrication, modification and repair Working as a member of an AIT team with electrical and mechanical specialists whose objective is to produce world leading satellite payloads Support On Shift work 50100 of the time for all hours 7 days a week onsite and perform offsite operations as required. Work hours will include periods of normal day work and 2 or 3 shift systems including weekend working. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Hands on experience with Mechanical Electrical Manufacturing operations Hands on experience with RF Assembly and fitting operations incuding COAX and Wave Guide Ability to work from technical drawings Experience with Multilayer Insulation would be desirable Previous experience working in a high quality driven process orientated engineering organization Ability to understand process hand over to the following shift is highly desirable Machine Shop trained Good communication skills Fluent level in English. Primary role purpose Inmarsat requires a selfmotivated individual to act as the single point of reference within Inmarsat for the provision of expert guidance and leadership with regards to all aspects of satellite antennas. Key Responsibilities Support Inmarsat satellite antennas design and procurement activities Participate in satellite test and delivery reviews with particular focus on Antennas Manage contractor for timely resolution on antenna subsystem technical problems. Support new space infrastructure procurement tasks Support the London based operational team as required Be on call for the In Orbit fleet. Essential Knowledge and Skills At least 5 10 years experience in antenna design, manufacture and test from equipment to spacecraft level Solid Experience in RF design, with particular emphasis on large offset reflectors fed by a phased array feed, shaped offset reflectors and horns. A good understanding of multiport amplifiers including the individual equipment parts and the overall operation. In depth knowledge of beam forming. This will include system level appreciation of digital beamforming and the ability to generate new beams in an existing system. The ability to discuss and contribute to the mechanical and thermal aspects. Prevention by design and test of passive intermodulation and multipactor. The analysis of supplier data and presentation of performance GT, EIRP and Isolation to other groups within Inmarsat. RF test range capabilities and limitations. Provide leadership for antenna aspects in terms of accommodation, coverage and general feasibility for future Inmarsat programmes. Good knowledge and understanding of satellite design, assembly integration test. Excellent writing and reporting skills. Excellent communication skills with people at all levels of the organization. PROFILE The Engineer shall have a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline and shall have experience of spacecraft operations mandatory. It would be a distinct advantage for the Engineer to have experience with some of the following Routine spacecraft operations in general Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design of the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infra Red Imager SEVIRI Instrument Payload and also some familiarity with the Mission Communications Payload MCP. The Engineer shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
