FAA announced streamlined, user-friendly, Web-based aircraft registration process for owners of small unmanned aircraft (UAS) weighing >0.55 lb and <55 lb (including payloads). Calling UAS enthusiasts aviators, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx noted how "that title comes a great deal of responsibility" and how registration provides opportunity to foster safe operation. Nominal registration fee is $5, but FAA is waiving that fee from December 21, 2015 to January 20, 2016.
