A vacancy for an Antenna Test Specialist Range Manager has arisen within the Antenna group of Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. Reporting to the Antenna Operations Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for an Antenna specialist with practical knowledge and experience of Antenna testing. The Antenna NearField Ranges are used to test feed chains, reflectors, and small to medium size antenna systems from CBand up to QVBand. The Antenna Ranges provide critical antenna testing capabilities for our flight products and for RD work on the latest satellite antenna technologies. The range facility is constantly challenged to find innovative methods to test the constantly evolving antenna products designed and manufactured within the group and externally. You will have all the skills needed to run a successful test service. You will also be the Antenna Group specialist in antenna testing. You will be responsible for organising and performing all aspects of running the Antenna test ranges. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Manages, operates and develops the existing Antenna RF Range facilities in Stevenage in order to deliver onquality ontime oncost test services for all customers. Specifies, installs and mechanically configures the test and flight hardware, working closely with the mechanical team to ensure the correct alignment has been achieved. Executes the test. Processes and analyses measured test results to provide performance analysis support to the RF design and project teams. Maintains and implements a sustainable investment and improvement roadmap over the OP to continually develop the Antenna range facilities to reduce cost, schedule and risk and to improve test range technical and quality performance, and to meet the needs of future antenna system testing. Ensures that the range facilities are maintained in safe working order at all times and that working practices and procedures are compliant with Health and Safety regulations. Carries out risk assessments on test operations and ensures all personnel involved in any operation follow the test procedure and are aware of the risks. The test facility manager, in his role of test director, is responsible for the safety of the whole team and for the hardware under test. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Minimum level of HND, preferably degree in Engineering or Science based subject. Proven experience in high integrity testing, ideally working on Space products. Experience of Antenna testing Near Field and Far Field measurement techniques. Experience with Antenna RF systems Range configuration and validation experience Eg. remote mixing, coordinate systems, pointing accuracies, RF accuracies. Knowledge of Antenna test ranges. Understanding and appreciation of the design, installation and alignment of antennas. Knowledge of the design drivers and production processes associated with the design of spacecraft products. Computer literacy design and programming of test systems MS tools, Matlab, and preferably Vax VMS and Fortran. Vector Network Analysers. PNA, 8510, 8720 Drive systems. Stepper and DC motor drives. Advanced level of English, some knowledge of French and German would be a plus. Demonstrable Leadership skills. Measuring 4.5 x .95 in., SM-1650/1575 Series consists of both Iridium antenna and GPS antenna. Iridium antenna provides 3.5 dBi gain over entire 1,616–1,626.5 MHz range and is fed with RG-58 cable, while GPS antenna provides LNA 26 dB and 5 dBi nominal RHCP at 1,575 MHz and is fed with RG-174 cable. Mounting to surfaces up to 7/32 in. thick, combination antenna is suited for long distance truckers, military vehicles, mining operations, and freight trains.
