A big rise in ute sales has helped Mitsubishi Motors Australia, which shut its local car making operations in 2008, return to profit. The company's latest set of financial statements lodged with the corporate regulator show a sharp turnaround over the past year, with the company making a net profit after tax of $56.2 million for the 12 months ended March 31, 2014.

Norway's Cermaq recommended Monday shareholders accept a $1.4 billion cash bid unveiled by Mitsubishi that would create the world's second largest salmon farming company. The Japanese group has offered to pay 8.88 billion Norwegian kroner for the entire share capital of semi-state owned Cermaq.
