JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks Contribute the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of SW PA programme. Monitor and evaluate SW PA analyses, reports and technical notes. Prepare design trade offs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions. Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments. Qualifications MSc in Engineerings, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent Required knowledge Masters degree in software engineering or computer science with background on space engineering. Your Tasks Include The main task of the consultant will be the maintenance and further development of the operational MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software. In addition, the consultant may also support development activities of the MTG and EPSSG Programmes. Primarily these development activities will focus on the Image Navigation and Registration processing, which is part of the mission instrument data processing. Both online and offline functions development are part of these activities. Typically, the tasks of the Consultant will include MSG Operations Support Developing an expert knowledge of the MSG Image Processing System. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as remote sensing, physics, aerospace engineering or computer sciencesoftware engineering, the Consultant shall have very strong C and mathematical skills and at least five years recent experience in Objectoriented system design. UNIX. Implementation of numerical algorithms. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with some of the following Realtime image processing of large volumes of data. Geometric correction navigation registration of satellite images. Radiometric correction calibration of satellite images. Performance optimisation of algorithms. IDL or MATLAB. Integration, verification, and validation of realtime data processing systems. Familiarity with ECSS standards, in particular those related to software development. Experience minimum 3 years in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, and anomaly tracking, investigation, correction and testing. Experience in defining automatic testing suites at unit and components integration level. Software Engineering Skills Experience minimum 3 years in developing and maintaining software applications using Java and C programming languages under UNIX operating systems and development and maintenance of javascript scripts SIMULUS scripting technology.
