We are currently looking for a university graduate engineer in a relevant discipline, such as remote sensing, physics, aerospace engineering or computer sciencesoftware engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in C and Object Orientated system design in the implementation of numerical algorithms. The successful candidate will support our customer in the maintenance and further development of the MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the software. Responsibilities Duties The main task of the consultant will be the maintenance and further development of the operational MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software. In addition, the consultant may also support development activities of the MTG and EPSSG Programmes. Primarily these development activities will focus on the Image Navigation and Registration processing, which is part of the mission instrument data processing. Both online and offline functions development are part of these activities. Updating the design and user documentation for the MSG Image Processing System. MTG Development Support Reviewing, analysing and anomaly investigation of MTG instrument data processing software from procurements. Supporting the integration, verification and validation of MTG instrument data processing deliveries. Supporting the development of a MTG reference processor at EUMETSAT. Prototyping selected instrument data processing algorithms. Qualifications Experience University degree in a relevant discipline, such as remote sensing, physics, aerospace engineering or computer sciencesoftware engineering A 5 year or longer experience with C Essential Skills The candidate shall have at least five years recent experience in Objectoriented system design UNIX Implementation of numerical algorithms Fluency in English is mandatory this is the working language at EUMETSAT, and the engineer must be able to work effectively in this language. Desirable Skills Realtime image processing of large volumes of data. Geometric correction navigation registration of satellite images. Radiometric correction calibration of satellite images. Performance optimisation of algorithms. IDL or MATLAB. Integration, verification, and validation of realtime data processing systems. Familiarity with ECSS standards, in particular those related to software development. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Configuration management of complex systems. Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Ability to cope with pressure. Fluent in English. High level of flexibility. Good organization skills, good communication skills.
