Primary Purpose of the Role To define architecture, design, specify and implement electronic units including PCB schematics to relevant European Space Agency flight standards. This will be completed in accordance with relevant Thales Quality Management and industry Standards. Experience of analogue design for Space will be essential, coupled with an excellent grasp of circuit analysis for worst case conditions. Experience in carrying out and interpreting the results of schematic and boardlevel simulation is important. A working knowledge of digital electronics design, FPGAs and CPUs SPARK V8 LEON ARM is required. Familiarity with the requirements traceability DOORS to support design and development process is required. Experience of Mentor xDX Designer for schematic capture and Mentor xPCB for layout is preferred. Experience of SIMetrixSIMPLIS for analogue simulation is preferred. Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Manager with technical oversight provided by the Skill lead. The main duties and responsibilities will include Customer requirements analysis Contribute to system design, definition of requirements and Work Package definition Architectural design with an assessment and tradeoff of design options Selection of parts suitable for the space environment Design of the required function to schematic level Worst case and Stress Analysis of the design to ensure reliable operation A working knowledge, and preferably direct experience of software design and its interaction with hardware. Knowledge of EMC and appropriate mitigating design techniques. Analogue signal conditioning, multiplexing and conversion ADC and DAC. Failure Mode Effects Criticality Analysis Definition of test procedures Creation of manufacture data packs Managing PCB layout activities, applying highspeed layout techniques where appropriate Supporting the manufacturing and Product Assurance manager during the build phase Supporting PCB level testing Supporting integration and testing at unit level Support to reviews at all levels of the design, development and testing of the unit Liaise with customers and subcontractors on technical issues Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential The position will be based at the TASUK Bristol office but up to 20 of work may need to be conducted at subcontractors or customer premises, typically in UK or Europe. Provide all tasks and outputs, typically defined within a work package description, in conformance to agreed scope budget and schedules. Quality Assurance Engineer

Are you interested in providing QA support for endtoend satellite systems in their design and development phases? EUMETSAT is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. The initial focus in this role will be the provision of Quality and Product Assurance for the planned EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation EPSSG System. This Programme is one of EUMETSATs most prestigious and is expected to be the most important source of satellite observations for all forecasts based on Numerical Weather Predictions in the 20212040 timeframe. The role will provide quality and product assurance support for the design and development of endtoend low earth orbit satellite systems, comprising satellites, launch services and ground segment. EUMETSAT operates meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space and we are committed to be the leading userdriven operational agency in Europe for earth observation satellite programmes. The success of our missions is crucial for weather forecasting and environmental monitoring, and you could play a major part in this. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the definition and implementation of QA processes, you will also define and maintain QA plans and working practices and support the design phases of programmes in development. We expect you to be able to assess QA plans provided by our contractors during the various programme phases, to follow up any root cause analysis and to drive through any agreed corrective actions. You should have a University degree in engineering, Physics or Computer Science and ideally a professional certification as a quality auditor. You should also have a solid experience in QAPA for the design, procurement and Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex software intensive products. Ideally you should have experience gained from the aerospace field and have knowledge and practice of ISO 90012015, ECSSM and relevant EN standards.
