Galileo Space Segment Maintenance Engineer

We are currently looking for a Galileo Space Segment Maintenance Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Key Tasks and Responsibilities In this role you will provide onsite support SSEG Space Segment Maintenance Support at the GCC Galileo Control Centre and have, among others, the following responsibilities Anomaly investigation, root cause analysis and Anomaly Reports handling this will also include providing recommendations for workarounds to mitigate satellite anomalies Maintenance and update of operational documentations included Spacecraft User Manuals and Known Anomaly Databases Spacecraft Performance Analysis including the generation, screening and processing of the satellite trend reports. This will also include assessment of performance degradation and providing inputs for lifetime estimation Coordination of the Level 3 SSEG Support Support improvements of SSEG Maintenance process and procedures Development and support validation of spacecraft anomaly recovery strategies and workarounds Provide L2 SSEG onconsole support for special operations when required and oncall support when needed Provide inputs for Operation and Engineering reports Spacecraft Engineering analysis to support customer driven requests. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline Experience from AIT tasks and or satellite engineeringdevelopment at industry mandatory this experience gained in the frame of Galileo is an asset Experience in space projects at industry level and in spacecraft design and manufacturing Expert knowledge of at least one of the following satellite subsystems AOCS, Galileo payload or TCS Experience in spacecraft operations would be an asset Resilient, team player with good analytical skills, high flexibility and good communication negotiation skills Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The tasks will include also service to the future Copernicus missions as they become operational, in the area of Copernicus ground segment system engineering and in particular interfaces definition. Use of modelling and design languages for System Engineering e.g. SysML and tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. Vitech CORE, Enterprise Architect Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software lifecycles and standards. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering MBSE methods, techniques and tools Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex systems. The engineer shall support the Flight Dynamics routine operations of the inflight satellites as well as the preparation and after launch execution of Flight Dynamics operations for future Low Earth Orbiting satellites Tasks and Responsibilities The tasks in the area of LEO Flight Dynamics routine operations will typically include Execution of the routine operations of the Flight Dynamics Facility, including spacecraft orbit determination and propagation, events and ground station visibility predictions, Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS telecommand generation and telemetry monitoring Planning and execution of spacecraft manoeuvres, as well as of their evaluation, thruster calibration and maintenance of the fuel budgets estimates Support to the contingency operation of LEO spacecraft, including preparation and execution of conjunction avoidance manoeuvres, recovery of routine operations and safe mode support these activities may require intervention during the night and the nonworking day Operational quality control of manoeuvres and AOCS telecommands before uplink and execution onboard of the spacecrafts Preparation and maintenance of Flight Dynamics operational procedures for spacecraft routine, special and contingency operations, operational configuration maintenance and system management Performance analysis of the Flight Dynamics System, specially focusing on the monitoring of the input to the processing of meteorological products, and implementation of enhancements as required Perform system level analyses needed for the refinement of the Flight Dynamics algorithms and optimisation of the operational configuration and implementation of enhancements as required for the different missions Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. The tasks in the area of preparation of Flight Dynamics operations for future Low Earth Orbiting satellites will typically include Support to the ground segment development and operational preparation activities in the area of Flight Dynamics prior to launch of a new LEO satellites FD database preparation, definition of operational procedures, generation of related operational configuration data and participation to operational validation of satellite and groundsegment operations Support Flight Dynamics activities during launch and commissioning for new LEO satellites startup of FD system and initialisation of FD operational data, assessment of handover conditions, inflight validation of FD performances and transition to routine operations Review of spacecraft and groundsegment technical documentation and participation in formal reviews Perform required mission and system analysis studies, preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings. Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, at least 5 years of experience on Flight Dynamics preferably of a LEO satellite Knowledge of the analytical principles of orbit determination and control Experience with the routine operations of operational flight dynamics systems for LEO satellites Experience with the development of operational flight dynamics systems for LEO satellites.
