For our activities in ESOC, we are currently seeking a Ground Operations Engineer to support the Galileo LEOP operations. The Galileo LEOP operations will be carried out by a team comprising of CNES and ESOC engineers. The plan is for LEOPs to take place alternately at CNES Toulouse and ESOC Darmstadt, with the team taking part in the LEOPs at each site. There will be 2 Ground Operations Managers GOMs, one will be normally based at each of the sites and the holder of this post will report to the ESOC Ground Operations Manager. Each launch will comprise a minimum of 2 spacecraft and possibly up to 4. While the two first pair of Galileo Satellites had been launched IOV1 and IOV2, the holder of this post will support the upcoming IOC1 LEOP support from ESOC and IOC2 LEOP support from CNES plus the follow on missions. The working language across the team is English. During the remaining time periods, the post holder will be assigned work as GOE for other missions, specifically in the area of launcher tracking. This position might require to be on mission away from ESOC for extended period. The responsibilities of the GOE include in particular Developing and managing the LEOP mission timeline Preparation for LEOP operations in coordination with Ground Operations Manager, Spacecraft Operations Manager and Operation Director consulting the operations concept document, interface definitions for the ground elements, scheduling, etc Development and review of the ground segment procedures Development of the Galileo Launch Folder Providing specialist advice on the ground segment Development, management and execution of the MRTs, DFTs, Tracking Campaigns Identification, recording, investigation and progression of ground anomalies during the SVTs, MRTs, simulations campaigns and LEOPs Preparation for, and participation, in the simulations campaigns Assistance to the simulations officer to provide specialist ground segment knowledge for the simulations campaigns Participation in the 56 day LEOPs in the role of a Ground Operations Manager, thereby executing applicable classified and unclassified procedures. This will involve shiftworking to provide 24 hour support to the spacecraft Provide Ground Segment Support for activities like Risk Analysis, Secure Monitoring Procedures, Incident Investigation, etc, as required Providing any necessary ground segment support to operations in the drift phase of the spacecraft Contribution to the postLEOP reports.
