The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear Dean Foods Co's appeal over claims the business conspired to restrict competition for bottled milk in the southeastern United States, forcing the company to face an antitrust suit over the matter. The high court's refusal to intervene means a January ruling by the Cincinnati-based U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals that revived the claims against Dallas-based Dean Foods remains intact.

Reuters: Florida's water war against Georgia advanced as the U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear an interstate dispute on whether Atlanta's suburbs are sucking dry the river flow that feeds the oyster beds and fisheries of the northern Gulf Coast. State Supreme Court denies Scruggs appeal

The state's highest court ruled that an insurance agent and insurance company were right to deny coverage to Lee County farmer Mitchell Scruggs. "We find that Scruggs' actions were intentional and illegal and therefore uninsurable under Mississippi law," Mississippi Supreme Court Associate Justice Ann Lamar wrote in the decision handed down Thursday.
