This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Meteorological Product Software Engineering Support 1413082 Job Description For our customer EUMETSAT, we are looking for a meteorological product engineer to support the analysis, design, implementation and validation of product algorithms. The main tasks to be conducted by the engineer can be found below Analysis of product change proposals Design, implementation and validation of updatednew algorithms Documentation of changes related to product updates Preparation of technical notes on product implementation issues Development, maintenance and update of product generation monitoring software and the corresponding database Monitoring and operating the product generation facilities Visualisation and analysis of geophysical products Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing. Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational product generation from satelliteremote sensing data. experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data. Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 9095 in a Unix environment Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification Source code control systems, preferably Subversion Anomaly correction and configuration management processes Python and IDL programming languages Common meteorological data formats, like BUFR, CAP, GRIB, HDF5, and netCDF UnixLinux operating systems Fluency in English Desirable Skills and Experience Relational databases using SQL Algorithm software development using CC programming language Authoring clear and concise technical documentation Work Location Darmstadt, Germany Dates Application Deadline 27 October 2014 Start of Work 01 January 2015 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page Notes to Applicants on the Solenix website under Career. AIA is part of the Remote Sensing and Products Division and its role is to develop, implement, validate and evolve operational observational products. Tasks and Activities Your primary tasks and activities may include Analysing, supporting the design, operational implementation and validation of new as well as updated product algorithms Analysis and resolution of anomalies relating to the product generation software.
