FAA's proposed regulations framework would allow routine use of specific small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in aviation system while maintaining flexibility to accommodate future technological innovations. Applicable to <55 lb UASs conducting non-recreational operations, safety rules limit flights to daylight and visual-line-of-sight operations and addresses height restrictions, operator certification, optional use of visual observer, aircraft registration/marking, and operational limits.
