Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) selected 6 public entities that will develop unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) research and test sites around USA. Selection took into account such factors as geography, climate, location of ground infrastructure, research needs, airspace use, safety, aviation experience, and risk. Sites include University of Alaska, State of Nevada, Griffiss International Airport (NY), North Dakota Department of Commerce, Texas A&M University, and Virginia Tech.
