FAA and Massachusetts Port Authority unveiled 2 safety enhancements to Logan Airport's longest runway. Totaling $50 million, FAA Airport Improvement Project (AIP) grants helped fund crushable concrete safety area, which includes 300 ft wide concrete pier that extends 470 ft into Boston Harbor at end of Runway 33L, to prevent planes from overrunning runway. FAA Requests Proposals for Options to Help General Aviation Transition to Unleaded Fuels

FAA has asked world's fuel producers to submit proposals for fuel options that would help general aviation (GA) industry make transition to unleaded fuel. FAA will assess viability of candidate fuels in terms of their impact on existing fleet, their production and distribution infrastructure, their impact on environment and toxicology, and economic considerations.
