NextGen procedures are helping flights operate more efficiently at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, improving on-time performance and decreasing emissions. Charlotte Metroplex project includes new arrival and departure procedures that reduce amount of time airplanes spend on taxiways. Charlotte is also among the first to use Data Communications, which operates like text-messaging between air traffic controllers and flight crews for routine communications.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that installation of safety improvements to reduce fatal crashes will require intermittent lane closures on NE Columbia Blvd westbound at NE 33rd Avenue, from Wednesday, Jan. 6 to Wednesday Feb. 10. One lane westbound will always remain open for traffic during work hours.
Norfolk Southern plans improvements to ex-D&H line

Norfolk Southern has been working on the former Delaware & Hudson line from Albany to Sunbury, Pa., that it purchased earlier this year from Canadian Pacific Railway. That's according to a story in the current edition of Progressive Railroading, a trade publication.
