U.S. EPA launched 2013 Energy Star National Building Competition: Battle of the Buildings. Teams from 3,200+ buildings across USA will compete to see who can most reduce their buildings' energy use. Over 25 different types of commercial buildings are entered into this year's competition and represent all 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. The buzz about Samsung's plans for a smartwatch has intensified with the discovery of trademark and patent filings in the United States and Korea. The USPTO filing lists the name of the patented device as "Samsung Galaxy Gear" and essentially describes a smartwatch. A document filed in Korea includes line drawings of what appears to be a wristwatch with a circular bracelet or wristband.

Not for the first time, Justin Welby, the head of the Church of England and the archbishop of Canterbury, took a jab at UK-based online lender Wonga, claiming he told Wonga's CEO, "we're trying to compete you out of existence." The Church of England is in the process of forming its own quasi-lending agency -- the "Anglican Mutual Credit Union" -- for clergy and employees.
