Flight Dynamics System Software Engineer 1621045 Job Description You will work as Flight Dynamics System Software Engineer as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. The Mission Control Applications MCA and Tools Team is responsible for the maintenance and development of the following Mission Control Applications Spacecraft Monitoring Control, Local Applications Monitoring Control, Onboard software management, Flight Dynamics System, Mission Planning System, OpsPrep Tools, Data analysis and reporting The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Applications and Tools for GEO and LEO missions. Software engineering for the reuse of Mission Control Applications and Tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Integration and verification at application and system level. User and software support to flight control teams. Support to the EUMETSAT Programme Preparation and Development PRD Department for the PhaseBCD of new missions in the domain of Mission Control Applications. Your role will be to provide prime support to the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team and this will include the evolution and maintenance of the EUMETSAT Flight Dynamics Systems for LEO missions the requirements specification, design, implementation, integration and verification of Flight Dynamics Systems for new EUMETSAT LEO Programmes PhaseBCD, including the setting up of the related maintenance arrangements and processes. the technical coordination in the team of the different parallel activities involving the EUMETSAT Flight Dynamics Systems for LEO missions. Your tasks will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Support to new Missions PhaseB activities such as Requirements engineering and System Architectural design Support to new Missions PhaseCD activities including Support to Flight Dynamics System implementation and Support to IV V and Acceptance Technical coordination of the parallel activities involving the EUMETSAT Flight Dynamics Systems for LEO missions Required Skills and Experience Knowledge of the analytical principles for orbit determination and control of LEO spacecraft. Experience minimum 5 years in the definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of Satellite Flight Dynamics Experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of application software, preferably for Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems, following Experience minimum 3 years in IV V integration, verification and validation activities for Flight Dynamics Systems following formal engineering processes. This Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software components and applications using Object Oriented 00 approach including design patterns. Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using Java and related technologies. Desirable Skills and Experience Experience with software development and maintenance of Tools using the Orekit space dynamics library. Experience in integration of Flight Dynamics Systems with Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAIESOC. Experience in integration of Flight Dynamics Systems with Mission Planning Systems. Experience with support to operations for Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems. Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. IBM DOORS requirement management Tool. Experience in the usage of software CASE design tools e.g. Enterprise Architect andor MagicDraw. Experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. Linux Operating System. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT andXPath. Experience in designing, developing and maintaining software client applications using Eclipse as HMI framework Rich Client Platform. Experience in designing and developing component based software applications using formal techniques e.g. OSGi. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The tasks of the key person will typically include Follow the software requirement definition, design and development, of Mission Control Applications produced by internal and external contractors. Participation and contribution in software requirements, design and implementation reviews related to Mission Control Applications produced by internal and external contractors. Interfacing with the Mission Operations Team to consolidate the operational concept in the area of the Mission Control Applications. Support to the Ground Segment engineering activities i.e. requirements, external interfaces and design consolidation, in the area of the Mission Control Applications. Support and document the evolution of all interfaces ICDs between the elements of the Mission Control Applications and other Ground Segment or external elements. Support the production of design models using CASE tools. Participation in verification readiness reviews and verification testing campaigns both internal and with external contractors related to the Mission Control Applications. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE Software engineer with minimum 5 years experience in the operation maintenance of SCOS2000 satellite control systems. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Fluency in English Experience in the definition of Ground Segment system level requirements and production of system architectural design artefacts in the domain of the Mission Control Applications. Experience minimum 5 years in the definition of software requirements and architectural design and implementation of Spacecraft Monitoring Control applications. Experience minimum 5 years in the customization of Spacecraft Monitoring Control applications based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in the telemetry and commanding chains and in the archive component is considered mandatory. Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilization Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. Experience minimum 3 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of Mission Control Applications following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design, implementation, corrective, perfective and adaptive maintenance activities. DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience with Mission Control Applications andor operations specifically for LEO spacecraft. Knowledge of the Mission Control System interfaces with the Mission Planning Systems function and the Flight Dynamics Systems. Experience with test tools for Spacecraft Monitoring Control System, e.g. Satellite Simulators.
